Tess Hewlett named Artistic Director of the NEW DCC ELEVATE Program at DCDanceLA
We have had the pleasure of having Tess Hewlett @__tessmarie__ be a prominent faculty member at @dcdancela since 2010, and we are now so excited to introduce her as the artistic director of @dccelevate ✨
Tess Hewlett (she/her) began her dance career at 18 when she was offered a year long scholarship to train at The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, CA. Since completing the program in 2009, she has taught and performed all over the world with LA Contemporary Dance Company (Kate Hutter, Genevieve Carson, & Jamila Glass), Entity Contemporary Dance (Marissa Osato & Will Johnston), AXIOM Dance Theater (Denna Thomsen & Zak Ryan Schlegel), and LOBOS art collective (Erica Sobol). A few of her commercial credits as a performer include Sia, Dua Lipa, The Weekend, Miguel, Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Slipknot, The Voice, Dear White People, Transparent, The OA, Apple, and as a movement director for the HBO show Perry Mason. Tess premiered her first evening length interactive piece that she co-choreographed and produced in the summer of 2019.
