DC Dance LA Company
DC Dance LA offers Performance Companies and Competition Teams for all ages. Auditions for companies and teams are held in May and August. Performance Companies participate in our annual Nutcracker, community performances, End of the Year Recital and at least 2 competition/convention. Competition teams attend 3 to 5 competitions per season. DC Dance LA attends various competitions and conventions, including 24/Seven, Hall of Fame, West Coast Dance Explosion, Nuvo, Jump, WCDE Nationals, Dancerpalooza and The Dance Awards. Being a part of the DC Company or Competition Team requires a high level of commitment, discipline and intentional practice. For those truly passionate about dance, it's one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences with friendships that last a lifetime. Company members qualify for independent PE in many districts.
Company dancers go on to continue dance as university dance majors and in pursuing a professional dance career. Some recent graduates attend NYU Tisch, UCLA, Dominican University/Lines Ballet, Chapman University, and Steps On Broadway Conservatory. Some working professional DC dance LA Alumni are currently performing in "&" Juliet on Broadway, Flock dance company, Royal Flux dance company, and The Weekend 'After Hours' Tour, etc.

Mini Company
This Company is designed to introduce dancers to the more serious fundamentals of being part of a dance company. Students will learn the basics of being part of a team, learning choreography, dance ethics and technique. There will also be extra community performances, conventions and competition opportunities during the year. |

Intermediate Company
Increased study of classical ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary dance. Students continue to build on the fundamentals of being part of a dance company with continued emphasis on learning challenging choreography in all genres and perfecting technique through conditioning.
Students will be constantly pushed to reach their potential. Proper dance etiquette and attendance is expected and strongly encouraged.

Minimum Class Requirements

Elevate Trainee*Increased and intensive study of classical ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary dance.Trainees are asked to expand their horizons and knowledge as a dancer, performer and artist. Students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills about dance as an art form through dance performance, dance composition (creating and structuring movement to communicate ideas) and dance appreciation. Proper dance etiquette is expected and strongly enforced. |
Company requirements must be met, plus Elevate technique and Elevate weekly meeting. |
Teen & Senior CompaniesIncreased and Intensive study in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary & modern dance. Students will be constantly pushed to reach their potential. Dancers in the company are expected to exhibit their commitment to dance and make classes and rehearsals a priority. Dancers are requested to keep an open mind and to be mature enough for the subject matter that is expressed through movement in choreography. |

DCC ELEVATE*DCC ELEVATE dancers are instructed in a professional environment. They are constantly pushed to reach their potential and are dedicated to the art of dance. Pointe, Classical Ballet Variations, Contemporary Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical Jazz are intensely studied. Dancers in this program exhibit an extraordinary commitment to dance and make every required class and rehearsals a priority. Dancers are requested to keep and open mind and to be mature enough for the subject matter that is expressed through movement in choreography. This level of dance training requires a large commitment of time. 5 days of dance per week are required. |

**TEAMS Teams are by invitation only. Teams are offered to more serious dancers in addition to Company. Team members are required to attend all company required classes plus extra team hours. ** APPRENTICE and UNDERSTUDY PROGRAMS We understand that not everything is black & white, therefore, we have developed an apprentice/ understudy program. This program is designed for students that we consider to be "in between" levels. If selected to be an apprentice or understudy, dancers are required to participate in designated company technique classes and rehearsal and learn all company choreography. Apprentices will need to attend all classes in the assigned apprentice company as well. ** ENSEMBLE Offered to dancers that are a part of Senior Company but are not able to meet ALL of the minimum number of required classes per week due to school requirements for graduation or recovering from a significant injury. Class requirements will be determined for each individual dancer on a case-by-case basis with the director. These company members are still a part of our Senior level companies but will perform at the discretion of the director and do not participate in Competitions. Conventions.
